Switzerland's resort of St Moritz puts as much emphasis on luxury and glamour as it does on exciting skiing. It offers an unsurpassed array of activities and a diverse apres ski scene to inspire envy in other resorts. Despite its unimpressive architecture the resort is glitzy, fashionable and pricey, attracting a commensurately well-heeled clientele.

For skiing and snowboarding, St Moritz offers two main mountains, and the great majority of its runs are easy intermediates. The totally inexperienced may struggle to find a range of skiable slopes, while experts will have to venture off piste to find adequate stimulation. But for the easy rider, St Moritz is marvellous, set in stunning scenery that will have you stopping just to stare.
